I had fun coming up with this little cutie....I think I have been on chickie overload lately and then Denami goes and announces NEW chickies...WOOT!

Hats off to wearin o'the green

I decided to do a little organizing the other day and came across the template of a leprechaun hat I had made for last St. Patrick's Day. I forgot I even had this...jeeze. This new rendition is sooooo much cuter because I now have a cute chickie to add to it! This time around I used a strip of stamped charcoal paper for the band instead of ribbon. And for the large shamrock I used the small heart outline that I fussy cut, distressed and added a little stem.

A pretty little hello

Hi ya'll, I just wanted to pop in and see if you have seen todays post over on the DeNami Design blog?? Holy Cow Chickie...What an announcement!! Be sure to head over and see what all the fuss is about ;)

I have to give credit where credit is due...this is not my layout. I saw something similar, ummm, I want to say it was on the Operation Write Home Facebook page, did a quick doodle and stuffed it in my purse for later. It's been a while, so I can't really remember what it looked like...Basically it was a punched edged panel with a flower stamped on the right side and a contrast color showing from under the punch and they used a sheer ribbon / bow.

After looking over my coveted collection of DeNami delights, I knew just what I wanted to do.....

I'm loving this color combo...that spot of red from the lilly makes me smile. The sentiment and swirl are stamped directly on the card and the water lilly is popped up with foam tape. Normally I would adhere a strip of ribbon then make the bow separate and attach it. For this card I decided to make it all one piece...didn't turn out to bad if I say so myself. I'm really feeling this little card and I even got the "stamp" of approval from hubby. He is very critical of my work with his 1 to 10 scale and this rated an 11 in his book...that RARELY ever happens ;)

I feel the need....the need for.....CHICKIES!!

So...when we had the hop last week this was the first thing that came to mind. Then I came up with the hexagon chicks. But I still like this one. Wouldn't this make some super cool patterned paper....we will call it....Chickie Paper! Remember...you heard it here first....

Come a little closer....

Elegant Leaves

*Whew...the blogger Gods were not being friendly today, they ate my pictures...go figure...Well I offered up a few tokens and I'm all set again...thanks for your patience!

It seems like it's taken me forever to get this card posted. I finished it a over week ago and just never got around to doing the post...I'm being L A Z Y!

So, here it is, my 3rd and final creation for the sketch challenge over at DeNami. I just LOVE this sketch and plan on using it quite a lot...it's so versatile and fun to play with.
I had already made some fun and  whimsical cards but I really wanted to create something elegant. I was looking through my newly acquired stash of DeNami sheer ribbons and thought how beautiful they were and decided that the green would be perfect for something elegant.

I recently ordered some sage green cardstock from DeNami...it's such a pretty shade...LOVE it. I paired it with hunter green and white for the panels. I started out using colored pencils to color in the leaves (see the panel laying in front of the card). However, I wanted to keep it simple and clean and was afraid that if I colored the leaves it would be too busy...what do you think, would you have colored it in?

And once again ....the daisy makes an appearance...

So this weekend we had the annual stamp show here in Columbia, SC (and let me say for the record that I totally and completely bummed that Denami was not in the house....). As I was looking around I did learn a little sumpin' sumpin'. Then I took what I learned and brought it home to apply it to my Denami stamps.

Peek closer why don't ya...

See those lines and the color inside the circles? Yep....that's not patterned paper...its ink. I showed it to the man and he was impressed that I could do that. And let me just say it takes A LOT to impress the man....just sayin'.....

Bon Temps Rouler (let the good times roll)

I'm not sure if ya'll know where Wendy and I hail from...we may have mentioned our respective state at one time or another. But, anyway, I'm from St. Louis, Missouri. Why am I telling you this you ask?? Well hold your horses, I'm getting to it (hehehe).

MARDI GRAS in  ST. LOUIS

I'm bettin ya'll had no idea that St. Louis' Mardi Gras celebration ranks 2nd largest in the United States - over 50 floats in the parade alone not to mention a seventy square block area of street venders, concerts and Madi Gras mayhem....we LOVE a good party! Like most cites, we name our neighborhoods and  the Soulard neighborhood happens to be our party central. It looks like a mini french quarter in New Orleans...LOVE that area. Only draw back is that I'm in the next neighborhood over...lots of drunks wandering around and for some reason they tinkle on just about everything...nice, right?.  Don't get me wrong, I will be there and have a little hurricane or two, but this girl buys her beads, there is no "earning" them if you get my drift...well, I'm hoping I don't "earn" them... (and you don't want to pick them up off the street...trust me...way nasty) and there will definitely be no tinkling in public!! ;)  In celebration of this fun and wild shin-dig, I thought I'd make ya'll a card...

I was originally going to use a yellow cardstock for the "gold" but lucked out and found a piece of gold velumn in my stash. For the tag I colored in the design and filled it all in respectively with amethyst, gamma green and gold glitter for a lot of sparkle.

Sparkle and butterflies....

I'm back with another card for the awesome sketch challenge over on the DeNami Design Blog.

When coming up with a card, I give it a lot of thought and usually have a plan...I start with a sketch and doodle a design on it or in this case, write in what I'm thinking...

I decided to get seriously creative with this one, It's basically a one layer card...I started out using the mini grass stamp stamped randomly across the base of the card, then for the punched edge I used a sweet little stamp that has peeks and valleys, just like a pretty punched edge would have. For the bar going across the card, I created a flower using a sentiment, small daisy, butterfly, tweety bird and leaves. The tweety bird is the only thing that is layered / paper pieced on this card. To finish it all off I added some white and green sheer ribbon that I twisted together. Did ya notice the little trail the butterfly made...I wanted it to look like she wrote the sentiment. So, do ya see the sketch in this card???

If they gave out an award for the most glitter I think I would win hands down! Just about every inch of this card is glittered...Magenta for the flowers, Citrone and Gamma Green for the grass, leaves & flower stem, Amethyst for the tweety bird & butterflies. The only part not glittered is the butterfly trail and sentiment...that's a lot of glitter, but it's how I roll ;)  There's no such thing as too much glitter....just sayin'

With Love...

Have you heard that DeNami Designs is having another AWESOME challenge? This one is a sketch challenge...my favorite kind!! WOO-HOO!! Here's my first entry...yes, I said first, unfortunately I had too much fun and made three...again...sigh

I just "love" this card. I love finding ways to use the little glass bowl and thought, why the heck not fill it with hearts...like a blow full of love, right? After I did that I got to thinking a little more..I know, I'm still in a little bit of shock myself ;)  Anyway, I got to thinking that the hearts could be falling into the bowl too, so I made a heart out of teeny hearts falling into the bowl filling it up...

I used three different shades of pink / red inks for all of the hearts and used a little light blue and crystal lacquer on the bowl for a "glass" look. I added a little liquid pearl to the corners of the focal panel to finish it all off.

2/16/12
I took a couple of extra picture...trying to capture the card better...my picture taking skills seriously lack.

Happy Valentines day!!!

Since it's Valentines day I thought I'd better show one of the valentines that I had yet to post...Valentines kinda snuck up on me. To make matters worse, it's hubbys birthday too. As I sit here (on Monday afternoon) typing this post, do I have a valentines or birthday card made for him...that would be a big fat NOPE. I need to get busy...dang job and life sometimes gets in the way of what's most important...making cards!

I just LOVE this all in one chickie stamp and thought with valentines day I'd see it alot in this past weekends blog hop...but it was a no show. I masked off the sentiment and stamped the chickies then using Satzon I stamped the sentiment on white grosgrain ribbon. The only red I have is from Momento so I really took a chance stamping the teeny heart on the ribbon...you can see that with in a couple of hours it didn't work out so well. I still kinda like it though...almost an abstract look. Everything doesn't always turn out perfect, sometimes you just work with it.

Still trying to use the new stamps....

I really love this little heart trio. So cute. So simple. Just right.

If you look really close you can see that I stamped the background with the tiny heart using Versamark.

Chickies and hearts....

Does it get any better than chickies and hearts and pink and yes, sparkles???? I think not!!
I really love the "X & O" sentiment and couldn't resist just stamping it all over. I used the stitched heart from the hearts stamp set because I though the chickie looked like she was sewing her hearts together...

I set the chickie overlapping the corner of the card instead of a standard bow then glittered the hearts for some blingy goodness. Did you notice I colored my chickie pink...

Baby photo Album

Well I'm back again with a little something different....

As most of you know (from following this blog) my Sister-in-law is having twins. I came across a really cool chip board photo album by Bo Bunny and thought I could make her a album that's truly different.  I added some patterned papers, then took my foam brush thingie I use with distress inks and distressed them using Vintage Sepia Versa Fine ink (my fave ink). I added touches of DeNami all through out the book using the same ink, I'm really liking the stamping on pattern paper...quite different.

Can you spot all the DeNami in this book? I used basic background stamps...polka dots, stars and hearts on some pages and on others I added the sheep, turtles, elephant and the ohhh so adorable giraffe. I even managed to get the heart scalloped border in there lol. I started the book out with her first ultrasound picture and filled the rest of the book with mats so she can add more photos.

Classic colors of love

I just love me some black and red color combo!! A valentine for my hubby is a great time to use it....
I moved the tag several times...can't decide if I like it like this or if I liked it better straight and lowered to the center of the card....sigh
